THE HOSTS

In the early years of Eurovision, the contest was mostly hosted by a woman, record holder is Catherine 'Katie' Boyle, who presented the contest on no less than four occasions. Boyle is the only one, next to Jacqueline Joubert (who presented on two occasions) to have presented more than one contest. In 1978 the contest saw it's first couple presenting the contest - French couple Denise Fabre and Léon Zitrone. Ever since, couples have taken over and since 1978 the majority of hosts have been "coupled". In 1999 there was a record: three presenters were used in Jerusalem. The last 'solo' presenter was Mary Kennedy in Dublin 1995.
