The
Dutch National Final 1998 was held at the RAI in Amsterdam on
8th March, hosted by Paul de Leeuw and Linda de Mol.
The voting contained a 50-50 weighting between a panel of professionals
and the televoting public. One of the professionals was
Sandra Reemer (also
known as
Xandra) who
had sung for the Netherlands in 1972, 1976 and 1979.
A few weeks after the
final, a Dutch radio station claimed that Edsilia had been disqualified from
the contest, but thankfully this turned out to be an April Fools Day joke
that many people fell for !
