Bobbejaan Schoepen was born on 16 Mai 1925 in Boom as Modest Schoepen. He is the son of a blacksmith, and was already a well known Country & Western singer. He composed his first song in 1947. Since 1961 he got his own big amusement park in Lichtaart, north east of Belgium, called Bobbejaanland. In his amusement park he's got his own theatre, were he still performs.

Bobbejaan finished 8th equal at the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest
